Hi there, I'm building a new PC and I have a budget issue, I can get either an i7 5820K and a GTX 980 (non-Ti) or an i7 4770 and a GTX 1070. I do a lot of video editing with Sony Vegas and some moderate gaming, which would you recommend? Both would have 16GB RAM. Thanks

its out and its about ~400$ its faster than the 5820k but does not overclock as well meaning a overclocked 5820k can beat it when not overclocked.
and 6 cores vs 4 in video editing is a very big advantage in some programs and almost no adrvantage on others is depends on what programs you use

um a 980 is about the same price of a 1070 when new you buying used?
and i would go a 5820k or a 6800k and a now as powerful gpu just something to use for now like a used r9 270 or something cheap to get you by until you can afford a 1070

Video editing benefits from a moderate GPU. It doesn't have to be the very best. I would get the 5820K (3.3 base, 3.6 turbo). It's base frequency is almost the same as the 4770K (3.4 base, 3.9 turbo) and the turbo probably doesn't work on all cores simultaneously. You can also overclock the 5820K probably past 3.9 GHz. Video editing benefits from a combination of fast cores and multiple cores.

Since your gaming is moderate, the 5020K and GTX 980 should be fine.

If you don't want to overclock and don't already have a MB, the i7 6700K would be neck and neck with the i7 5820 and a bit better for gaming. Personally I think that an overclocked 5820K would surpass an overclocked 6700K, but have no testing to back it up.

no dont do that do a 5820k and a r9 480 when it comes out its about as fast as a 980
and a watercooled 5820k can hit 4ghz most of the time

well once it does come out also used 970 and 980 prices may drop a bit more along with 960 prices
but i would right now get a cheap gpu and a faster stronger gpu like a 1070 later
