Hi guys,

Recently my Windows 7 computer started suffering from BSOD every time I powered up (during the windows startup logo), I couldn't find the cause so I decided to go for a fresh installation. I booted from the Win7 install disc and formatted my SSD (the one I used to run windows from). I attempted a clean installation and it all ran smoothly until the installer got to the 'completing installation' phase. Then, an error message came up saying "Windows 7 could not update your computer's boot configuration. Installation cannot proceed". I formatted another SSD and then and tried installing there, same error. I brought out an old laptop drive with Win7 installed and booted from that, which worked although I'm not sure how useful that can be. However, I did notice that my two regular hard drives (in RAID 0) are recognised in the Windows installation but not in Windows itself.

Anyway, I'd like to install Windows on one of the SSDs, any ideas of how I can fix the error?

It sounds like an incompatibility between your OS install and maybe the UEFI BIOS and/or secure boot. Whenever you post here you need to post all hardware and OS specs - in this case 32 or 64 bit Windows install media and Home, Pro, etc. version.

I doubt, however, this will correct your problem but you'll need to get back to a bootable machine to track it down further.

Both my previous OS and the version I'm trying to install is Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit. Also, just to clarify, I can access the computer by booting from an older hard drive with Windows 7 installed.

Specs:

MSI Z87-G43
i5 4670k
16Gb RAM
Gtx 970
2x Seagate Barracuda in RAID 0
2x Kingston HyperX not in RAID
