Hi,
I have a weird setup. I have my normal PC with triple monitors and then I have another TV with speakers over HDMI wall mounted above my bed. I am trying to create a circuit with multiple switches so I can direct audio around.
What I want to be able to do is have a single 3.5mm wire plugged into my motherboard. That goes to a system that I've already made which diverts the signal to different female jacks (for my headphones or normal PC speakers) What I am wondering is that if I have a switch between the motherboard and that system that can "Cut" The wire. Could I have the PC send the sound through the HDMI cable?

Solution
You can select whichever output you choose in sound options:

Right click and set as default device.

A more comfortable way is to install and use SoundSwitch: https://github.com/Belphemur/SoundSwitch

How the current setup is with soundswitch is the hdmi cable on my graphics card, speaker 3.5mm out to speakers, 3.5mm out on the front of my pc for headphones. When I plug my headphones in it works as the same device as speaker out.

There should be in the audio drivers the option to mute the back outputs when you connect headphones to the front.
