Hello. This is the first time I had set up an account and used this website. It seems like a good place to ask my questions.

TLDR: I plugged the main power cable into my computer when it was already plugged into the wall and the power switch on the back of the PSU was turned to "On". I think I may have fried a component in my computer because it won't turn on at all.

Now for the details:
1. I built this computer about 2-3 years ago.
2. It's been almost a year since I last dusted it out, so I thought today would be a good day to do so.
3. I turned off everything, unplugged everything, and successfully dusted it all out. I've done this a couple of times before.
4. With the side panel still off, I plugged it back in and turned it on just to make sure everything was still working.
5. I noticed that I forgot a spot. I wanted to dust in-between the heatsink and fan on my CPU cooler, as there was still a large build up of dust.
6. So once again, I turned it off and unplugged it, but this time I must have forgot to hit the off switch on the PSU.
7. I managed to take off the fan and get all of the dust that was stuck on the heatsink.

---This is where I messed up---
8. Finished with dusting it out now, I put the side panel back on, and grabbed the power cable on the floor so I could plug it in.
9. I somehow completely forgot to look at the switch, and managed to plug the power cable into my computer while it was in the wall and as the power switch on my PSU was turned to "On".
10. The LEDs on the front of my case turned on for a second and then turned right off. Nothing else other than that really happened. I turned white as a ghost knowing that I had F-ed up.
11. Hitting the power button on the front of my computer does absolutely nothing.

I immediately thought I might have fried my PSU, so I went to google and looked up similar problems to what I was having. I found the trick where you unplug it from everything and put a paperclip in the green wire and a black wire. So I unplugged it from everything except for a single case fan. To my surprise, the PSU turned on just fine and the case fan spun like normal. Unlike when it was plugged into everything like normal and it didn't turn on at all.

So that's the story of what happened, and I'm really stressing out because I was currently working on things that I don't have the time to waste on. I'm hoping that someone can try to help me through this problem as it's kind of a big deal. I tried to include as much information as possible, and I'm willing to try anything at this point.

Solution
Looks really bad. Seems like some issue with the motherboard.
Here are some options you may try:
1. Try checking you PSU with a multimeter
2. Short power on pins manually (in the group of small pins where wire from cabinet goes)
3. If nothing helps try to get a motherboard from friend or somewhere on which you test.
