wifi speed slower than ethernet

modem speed 100 Mbps...... router speed through ethernet 100 Mbps........ router speed through Wifi sitting right next to the PC 50 Mbps....... router speed through Wifi at a distance of 40 feet 30 Mbps. Router on N mode channel 11.

-Are you using the 2.4 or 5Ghz? 5Ghz will get you better speeds but at less range.
-Also do you have a lot of neighbors using wifi as well? This can very well cause interference.
-Is the client you are trying to connect 802.11N? or some other standard?
-Ensure to disable any backwards compatibility for 802.11b on your router as this will limit your N connection to 50Mbps, only connect N clients.
-Make sure to Use Wpa2/Psk for your wireless security on your router because this will limit you as well.

wired connections use full-duplex (both ends can transmit and receive at the same time). 802.11 wireless devices only run in half-duplex (only 1 end can transmit at a time) - effectively dividing the stated bandwidth(of the wireless) in half.

Thanks for trying though, I am sure that it is an inherent problem of wired vs wireless connections.
