So I'm upgrading my memory of 8GB of rams up to 32GB of it. I have a MSI 970 AM3+ Gaming Motherboard. I only have one ram stick, a Kingston Hyper X Fury 8GB 1600mhz blue. I know this is a dumb question but my plan is to buy three of this kind of ram stick but with different colors like the red, black, and white. Is it okay to buy three different colors but I will buy the same specs such as 8GB and 1600mhz. Thanks.

Hi there mate!

Basically if all the specs are exactly the same, you shouldn't have issues even if the brands are different (although it's always recommended that you use the exact same memory modules). As for your question regarding those models specifically - check out Phillip's answer from this thread (the one marked as "best solution"): http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2387322/kingston-hyperx-fury-red-blue.html

However, if you still have any doubts, I'd recommend that you get in touch with the memory module manufacturer's customer support for more information.

Hope that helps. Cheers!

Just wondering why the upgrade for your machine?

If you use the PC for Photoshop, Video Editing etc, then the increase in ram should be helpful. If it's a gaming machine, the increase to 32gbs will have little effect, and 16gb being the 'sweet spot' for gaming.

It's far from a dumb question. I'd probably ask the same thing if I was doing the same. I guess you gave the answer yourself. If there's really no difference it terms of specs, then it might be just for customization. What I mean is that there are a lot of users who like to make color themed builds and in most cases you can see the components of the case. :)

BTW, @keith12 has a point there. :)
