Hi. Here's my question... I came home the other day and went to turn my computer on. Everything turned on as normal( the fans, lights, etc, except for the screen. Nothing appeared on the screen. I have looked into this and tried many different solutions until I saw that to check if it was the motherboard I should unplug the hard drive, then next the RAM, then next the graphics card. Never once did I hear a beep code from my PC. From there I assume that my motherboard has been fried. My only question is HOW. I did not move or change my PC so how did my motherboard fry? I don't have a great power supply( it's terrible). Can a bad power supply fry a motherboard?

Solution
Could be a surge that came in when you were away and fried it. Hook up the thing to a surge protector, replace the board, and turn on anti-surge support in the bios if it supports it

That possible fry of the mobo has a different factor or cause, might be the power, over temp of the controller hub and ICH IC and one of the great cause of fry is the dust build, since microchips can easily destroyed for this. To troubleshot this problem, try to use another known PSU, but use the isolation, disconnect the HDD and other disk and try to powerup the mobo using only the built-in gpu, but first clean your mobo and test it, you can discharge also the bios by removing the Battery and change the RTC jumper position. Then test it, to assure that your mobo will produce beep code remove that RAM in the slot and powerup the mobo. Observe if it will beep code, if not go back here for next instruction.

Yea. I have now tried all of this. Also my computer has only been built for about 6 months and hasn't built that much dust up. Now that i've cleaned it it has no dust. I used the on motherboard via connector and nothing. What is the "other disk"? I don't have an alternate power supply but the fans etc do power on. Also my power supply just exploded! I am Ok.

Other disk is DVD ROM and other External HDD. So do you have no other PSU, you need to try it. If this will not perform beep code probably that mobo now is damage because it was fry. Its better to test your cards including RAM in other mobo and PSU also. So that you will know that cards is normal.
