Hello!

i just upgraded my pc's processor from and amd fx 8320 to a i7 6700k.
All the new parts are now installed in my case. People said i had to reinstall my windows (because of driver issues and so on). So i tried to do so, but whenever i'm in the windows 7 setup it says "a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing..." when i try to select my hdd to install my windows on. I looked it up on the internet without succes. People said that changing the usb port would work or installing some driver so my hdd gets detected, but all of that didn't work. I can't seem to find any other method to select my hdd, wipe it and do a fresh install of windows 7. I previously was on windows 10 with a windows 7 key (i don't know if this is any important info).

My old PC specs:
- AMD fx 8320
- 16 gigs of DDR3
- 128 gigs SSD
- 1 tb HDD
- asus M5A97 LE R2.0
- 750W PSU
New PC specs:
- 16 gigs DDR4
- ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING
- i7 6700k
- And some Cooler Master CPU cooler
- The rest of all the components is still the same as above

If anyone know a solution, i'd gladly hear it :)

No need to change the ATA/AHCI settings, leave it on AHCI. What's important here is that Skylake removed all EHCI (USB 2.0) support, there are no USB 2.0 ports on Z170 boards. That's the source of the driver not found error during installation. The Windows 7 installer does not include any support for USB 3.0. If you insist on installing Windows 7 on a Skylake platform then there are some hoops you will have to jump through:

If you were using Windows 10, just download and use the Windows 10 setup, it will work with newer systems. If you want to use 7, make sure secure boot is disabled, and set the hard drive mode to ATA if it's AHCI now. You will need to use a USB2 port to boot the system from.
