2 TB internal hdd and 4 TB hdd
Or
4TB internal hdd and 2 TB hdd

For casual user (store documents, music, pictures, videos etc)and gamers what are the prefered size of hdd?

Often its the external that is bigger so that you can retain multiple versions of files, like backups.

Please remember that important files should never be stored on just 1 device. The more copies you have of them, stored on separate devices then the safer those files are.

Gamers should focus on 7200rpm drives if games are going to be played from it. Size depends on the motherbd and the space needs. Many gamers only have a handfull of games that they enjoy and don't need something like the latest 10TB helium filled drive :)

If your motherbd is the old BIOS based motherbd then stick to 2TB drives.
The newer UEFI boards (They have a graphical bios) can boot/use drives larger then 2tb
