Hello, I just bought an amd 6300 fx processor and an asus 970 pro aurora mobo. Also a corsair tx650 psu. I put it all together and plugged everything in, the computer turns on and the motherboard even lights up and looks like it should be working, but nothing post on the display.I took out the 6300 and replaced it with a phenom 2 x4 that I had laying around, still nothing. After all that I pull out my old gigabyte udp mobo plug everything in with the phenom 2 x4 this time and boom everything is working fine. Then out of curiosity I pop in the 6300 cpu in there and when I turn it on fans spin everythings good but no display posting at all. So at this point I have no Idea if the 6300 fx cpu is dead or the 970 aurora mobo, or maybe both of them? There is also the possibility the gigabyte udp mobo isnt compatable with the 6300 fx, which would come as a surprise to me. What do you guys think?

It might be the motherboard only, if your old motherboard does not support the FX. It might support it though after a BIOS update, so check the manufacturers website to be sure. If after a BIOS update it can boot with the FX, you are sure the mobo arrived dead.

The aurora pro supports both CPU according to asus website:

After delving further into it I found that the Gigabyte 970a-ud3 motherboard does have a bios update to support the fx series cpu's. Whilst in the process of trying to update the bios the computer restarted but now will not post unless I take out the x4 phenom II and put it back in. How strange.....
