Hello! It's been a few years since I last delved into the world of PC parts, but now I'm trying to come back for an upgrade to my graphics card. I had bit of an irresponsible indulgence recently, by buying an SSC ACX 2 GTX 950 with 2 GB just cause I saw it in Best Buy and was quite tired of my lowly 1GB GTX 650. But, now with all the new releases, E3, and the VR "revolution", I think I should reassess my buy.

I'm going to sell the 650 gathering dust under my desk, the 950 I'm currently using, and some old 360 games to get a better one. An estimate for those would be $345 in total, but I'll just double down and go for a $400 max. Also, if I'm crazy enough, or my roommate chips in, I think I'll buy a Vive, or as a distant second possibility, an Oculus.

So, great PC part elders, what is the best graphics card I can get for $400 that can handle modern games at least at medium settings and might keep up with a VR headset? Thanks for your help! :wahoo:

Solution
RX 480, released at the end of this month. You might be able to crossfire it as well for your price range, as long as you go for the 4GB version... Otherwise the RX 470 8GB might also be a choice, IF you wish to crossfire.

Thanks, man! This is exactly what I wanted. I guess I'll just have to wait a bit and learn to use cross-fire or whatever it is for AMD cards. Would you happen to have a guide or something for that?

Also, thanks Epicness and ToxicBanana, you guys gave me another idea for a future build.
