so i don't know what would benefit me more gaming wise,i notice my cpu bottle necking a bit even with a slight over clock,so i dont know what would be better to upgrade,to a gtx 1080 or to a i7 6700k,my spces are...

-a gtx 970 4 gb
-fx 8350 over clocked to 4.4
-msi 970 gaming motherboard
-16 gigs of ram
-kracken x61
-and a 750 watt gold power supply

Note- i know that i would need a new motherboard, ram, and cpu if i go with the cpu upgrade. Both options come to the around same amount of money so. Thanks!

Solution
Upgrade that CPU, you'll notice better performance. The 8350 has 8 weak cores, and games only use 2-4, making your extra cores absolutely useless.

The performance increase would differentiate across different games, but in games like GTA V or Battlefield, you may see as much as a 10+ fps difference. The 8350 is still a great CPU, it's just mainly used for rendering videos/images/animations.

No problem, friend :) Yes, the 970 will last for quite a while, still be able to play all games easily

I've played alot of games on the 8350 and it's never let me down yet, I run sli 780ti's on it and it's a solid performing rig. I do encode and rip bluray video so the 8 threads are used are used a fair amount, I wouldn't go with anything less than the 8core 16thread i7 as it does outperform the 8350, the 6core 12thread only marginally outperforms the 8350 @ stock clocks though, and the next gen chips will probably blow these away as well, we'll have to wait and see.
