HI guys. This is my first time switching cpu &mobo. I originally had i5-2500k on Asus p8z68-v LE MOBO. I got new parts, i7-6700k & Asus Z170-a mobo. I did some research before I get in to installing and found out that switching mobo requires reinstalling OS (windows 7 for me). Now that I finished installing my new setup, was expecting to reinstall windows, however surprisingly the new setup booted perfectly fine and windows desktop screen just poped up and it automatically installed couple drivers, excluding some of them.(ethernet, usb ports.etc ) . So I just installed those drivers manually with a disc (because usb port did not work). Now internet is working and all the usb ports are working as well. Everything seems fine... In my case, is reinstalling windows necessary ? What causes for not reinstalling windows after changing MOBO ? And why is my new setup working so flawlessly ?..
As a computer newbie.. I was worried about reinstalling windows, but now I am worried why it is working so well...
P.S. I just played couple matches in Overwatch.. works so flawlessly.

Thanks guys.

It's just a matter of drivers and settings and eventually windows activation. If you manage to cleanly uninstall old and install new drivers as well as to make new settings to reflect all the changes, you should be all right. Newer Windows are, better it behaves when changing major components, there's better base of drivers and better parts recognition for P&P devices. XP was pretty particular about drivers and not very good at finding them but W7 was already much better at it.
With W10, I'm already at third MB with same windows installed on system SSD and there's nothing wrong with it. Updated from W7 to 8/8.1 to last insider version of W10 without any clean install since than.
