CPU Cooler obstructs my RAM module. Can you suggest solutions please?

Hi guys,

I am currently building a PC and I already bought all the components, except for the CPU cooler.

I have already decided that I will buy the Cooler Master Hyper 212x. The EVO version is not available, and also, coolers like Cryorig etc are not available in my country.

To test whether the Hyper 212x will not obstruct the RAM modules of the motherboard, I have cut a piece of cardboard in the form of this CPU cooler. I can clearly see that the cooler's fan will obstruct the first RAM module (there are 2 RAM modules on my motherboard). However, the cooler's heat sink does not obstruct the RAM modules at all.

I have 2 simple questions:

1) Can I "slide "the fan 6mm upwards along the heat sink so that it does not obstruct the RAM module? Will this not decrease the efficiency of the CPU cooler?

2) Is it obligatory to put the fan on the right of the heat sink. i.e on the side of the RAM slot. Can't I put the fan on the other side, on the left of the heat sink, and make it suck hot air in the heat sink to the back of the PC casing and out? Will this impact the efficiency of the CPU cooler?

Please help me.

Regards

Solution
most tower coolers clip fans on the right on left. with cpu cooler when there set to pull air in over the cooler right or left does not matter. in a tower case the heat going to go straight up. that why most new gaming cases are top opened units. most cases with the rear fan blowing out is just to keep air moving inside of the case.

Thanks for replying smorizio. So do you think that I can slide the fan upwards along the heat sink about 6mm? Will this affect performance by a great deal?

Solution is second pic is not good because the heat sink will clearly obstruct the RAM module.

Also, solution in the third pic applies when you have 2 fans installed on the heat sink.

Hence I cannot use any of these 2 solutions.

Do you think it is possible to lift the fan a little bit higher along the heat sink so that it does not obstruct the RAM module?
