I installed the 212 Evo heatsink two nights ago and has since bent. During the installation, the x bracket screws were far from the mounting screws but, like other posts said, I just applyed lots of pressure to help them reach.

Why did it bend when it's supposed to be spring loaded?
And is there something I'm doing wrong which meant I had to apply all this pressure?

So should I just go with it and screw it in again despite the gap and force required.

I'm just worried because people say how they have cracked/warped motherboards from it being too tight

Here's a picture of the distance between the screws and mounting screws http://m.imgur.com/caEd3Lg
I doubt the product is meant to bend

So I'll just screw it in a little at each corner
I'd definitely say it's 'firm'

Are the springs supposed to be this strong/resistant?
They don't seem to be moving with the bracket at all or absorbing any of the pressure...
