I am planning on upgrading my CPU from an i3-3220 to an i5-3550, but I read that the fan that is supplied with it is not very good. I also read that a cooler works better. Since I am on a limited budget being retired, I would like to know which of these would be good to use with this CPU:

1. Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - CPU Cooler with 120 mm PWM Fan (newegg price $29.99)

2. Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes (same price)

3. Cooler Master Hyper D92 - CPU Air Cooler with Dual 92mm Offset Push-Pull Fans and Accelerated Cooling System (newegg price $39.99)

4. ARCTIC Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2, CPU Cooler - Intel & AMD, Multi-Directional Mount, 92mm PWM Fan (newegg price $22.99)

5. ARCTIC Freezer i11 CPU Cooler for Intel, 150W Cooling Capacity, 3 Direct Touch Heatpipes, <23dBA Fan Noise (newegg price $24.99)

6. Cooler Master V8 GTS - High Performance CPU Cooler with Horizontal Vapor Chamber and 8 Heatpipes (newegg price $ 84.99 - going to be hard on my budget since I will also be getting the CPU at $199.00)

that's simply not a monster CPU in terms of having a bunch of heat to get rid of, The key reason for aftermarket coolers is really noise reduction and longevity imo. Either of the 212'a will be more than adequate, just make sure they fit the case you are using.

That CPU doesn't generate a lot of heat and can't really be overclocked, so you don't need a very high-end cooler for it.

Focusing on quiet operation, a good choice would a Be Quiet! Pure Rock. As the name of the company suggests, their fans are quieter than average (the metal heatsink is practically as good as a 212 EVO since it's just a big hunk of metal).

Mounting system differs from cooler to cooler, but generally you'll have a backplate that goes behind the motherboard and a few pieces used to mount the actual heatsink to the backplate. The cooler will also have a packet of thermal paste included for you to use. Just need a screwdriver for the whole installation.
