Well cause it is decent for the price and i want over wattage because i also want to upgrade to a better GPU and CPU in the future that may or may not take more power so pretty much just to be on the safe side cause i know a 600W is good for a R9 480 thats coming out and the FX series CPU's but i still like the over wattage that i may need in the future.

We recommend that you not buy EVGA power supplies that have a 1 as part of the second portion of the model number. These are older models that had far too many issues.

This is where you need to check for a 1 to avoid those older models. 100-B1-0500-KR

On the other hand, EVGA followed those up with newer models that have a 2 in the second portion of the model number, and those have a very good reputation,

This is an example of a good model 2 model number. 110-B2-0750-VR

And finally, to answer your question, yes, all power supplies that have a 24 pin and an 8 pin connector are compatible with today's motherboards. However some of those power supplies might not be Haswell or later compatible. Check the manufacturer's website to check that.

RX 480 will be very, very low power draw. They only have a single 6 pin power connection. I think you are going for an overkill power supply here. I would place money that a system with an RX 480 in it would be fine with a 450 watt or 500 watt power supply.

From pcpartpicker.com:

SeaSonic S12II 520 Bronze S12II ATX 80+ Bronze 520W Non-Modular $58.99

SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze ATX 80+ Bronze 520W Full-Modular $65.99

One of those should be more than enough for your system, and paying $7 extra to get a fully modular power supply is definitely worth it.

All of the power supplies we are suggesting are great, high quality units. Me personally, I prefer Seasonic. It is the only brand I will buy anymore.

SR-71 likes EVGA a lot.

Pick one of these, and you will have a good power supply. YWe have shown you what we like. Now it is your turn to pick one of them. Or you can wait a little while and watch the prices on pcpartpicker, com and before long someone will put some of these units on sale, and you probably will get one of these units for $55 or maybe even a little less.

But it is now your turn.
