I am about to build my first computer for gaming and i had a few questions:

These are the parts i am considering:

MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6GB Graphics Card; ASUS DRW-24D5MT 24x DVD Writer;
Silverstone Strider Essential 500W ST50F-ESB;
Seagate Barracuda 1TB ST1000DM003; Kingston HyperX Fury HX421C14FBK2/8 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 Black;
Thermaltake Black Versa H25 Mid Tower Chassis; Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3 Motherboard and a
Intel Core i5 6500.

It comes to around $1600 Australian dollars

1) Firstly, are all these parts compatible with each other? to my primitive understanding they are but i may have missed something...
2) Is it worth replacing the harddrive with a 500GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD
3)any other recommendations would be appreciated :)

Solution
looks like they'll all work together, and the gpu should fit in the case as well.

might i suggest upgrading to a gtx 1080? you'll be spending about the same price and get a lot more performance.

as for the ssd, many people will suggest having an ssd for the boot drive at least. there will not a be a significan performance boost having EVERYTHING on an ssd vs the OS and a few select programs/games on a smaller ssd with an hdd as storage. however, if you want to put the money in to it, maybe you would prefer to avoid the hassle of controlling what drive things are on. i have a larger ssd that i keep everything on, and use my hdd only for long term storage of things i do not intend to access with any regularity.

if you're looking to stretch your legs some more, you could upgrade to a fancier case or get an aftermarket cooler for the cpu.
