So I'm frustrated with Nvidia playing Apple-like games, not releasing the regular 1070 and just the high priced slower founders edition.

So I've heard a thousand views on whether or not the graphics card helps export times.

I thought I was sold on "it does" but not sure again.

I'm editing on Adobe Premiere.

I'm stuck because 48 hr film project is coming and I have no GPU for quick export.

The 1070 hasn't been released so I'm being forced to buy another. I really just want to get the gtx 960 4GB because 970 and 980 are too close in price as the 1070.

What should I do?

it basically will reduce video rendering times pretty significantly; I'm not sure how much of an improvement you'll see with each card. I would suggest you buy the card that makes the most sense for your budget...

I don't have a graphics card yet. I just did my first computer build with the i7 4790K and just the integrated graphics. I'm trying to see if it's really worth waiting on the 1070. But I need a card now before July 7th, and was wondering would there really be a big difference in export times if I just get the Asus GTX 960 4GB.

I can already play back footage real time, so that's no worry. I just need faster export

well, the CUDA numbers of these cards are pretty significantly different. The gtx 960 CUDA performance is about 1/3 that of the 1080, it's about 2/5 of the 1070 or 980ti. and about 1/2 of the 980/970.

so it might be worth the extra $100 to get a 970 or extra 200 for the 1070 if you can find one.

But what other factors does it come down to other than cuda cores. I'm trying to figure out will the new architecture benefit me, someone who only wants it for video editing and exporting, with absolutely 0 gaming.

I would suggest you buy the card that makes the most sense for your budget and needs. If you don't mind waiting 24 hours for something to render, then you can skip the gpus all together. it comes down to how much it's worth it to you.
