Hi,
I've never built a PC before, so despite reading a lot, am finding it hard to know exactly where to spend my budget - e.g. skipping an SSD (at least to start) to get a better CPU/GPU, so was hoping someone may be able to help advise.

Approximate Purchase Date: sometime in the next month or so

Budget Range: £800ish

System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming, internet browsing, digital art

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Amazon, scan, Overclockers UK...anyone reputable and UK-based, ideally minimising # of stores.

Location: UK

Parts Preferences:
Intel CPU (i5-6500 if can fit budget, else i3-6100)
Was told ATX less fiddly than mATX so interested in price comparisons/thoughts for both
Need a wifi card

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: I assume 1920x1080 is what I’m likely to end up with?

Additional Comments: Hoping to build something that’ll last me for ~5 years without needing any/many upgrades, able to play games from MOBAs to The Witcher 3, ideally including future releases (ultra settings / max FPS not required).

I have zero components (except a basic USB keyboard/mouse that I hope will do to start), so I know I’m going to have to skip or downgrade components somewhere but not sure where’s best.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: A long overdue upgrade from my current PC: Core 2 Quad-Core Q9400, 4GB RAM, 32 bit Windows 7, NVidia 9800GT.

Solution
I recommend wait 7-10 more days for the new RX480 to be released. It's supposed to be better than the R9 390 and GTX970 for about $200.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions. I've put the parts into the UK version and it looks to still fall within budget. As I've now had a couple of people suggest the RX480 to me I'll definitely wait and see, but for now have put in the GTX 960. A couple of follow up questions if that's okay:

- Is an mATX motherboard fiddly to work with or am I worrying over nothing?

- Will a wifi card easily slot into that motherboard? And is there anything specific I need to be looking for in a card or are they all similar? Struggling a bit to understand PCIe slots and what can fit where...

- Is the monitor I've put into the build below okay, or?

- Is a 620W PSU needed? And will an RX480 change requirements?

I'm sorry I meant to piece together your build using uk.partpicker, but I forgot once I got in there haha

I made a few minor changes from things that are a slightly better deal and added a 75hz monitor rather than the 60hz monitor you had.

microATX motherboards are not hard to work with and yes a wifi card will work too.
