Better GPU, Worse performance

I have recently upgraded my graphics card and have been getting worse performance than my previous one even when I overclock. I have upgraded from the Asus strix 960 2GB to the MSI gaming X 1070 8GB and get lag in games that I wasn't lagging in before. I am using the same drivers as before so I am thinking, could this be it?

Current Specs:
I5-6600k (OC to 4GHz)
Asus Z170-P
16GB Corsair vengeance DDR4 RAM
EVGA 650w gold G2
MSI GTX 1070 8GB
1 Western digital 1TB HDD
1 Seagate 1TB HDD

Edit: I just remembered that, due to DVI socket issues, I had to go into the BIOS and enable the integrated graphics to run my second monitor off my motherboard so maybe that could be affecting it?

Do this:

1) http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

This will remove your NVidia drivers.

Then, install the latest. To be safe I'd also choose "custom-> clean" during install to reset any settings that may have been missed.

2) iGPU?
Unhook the monitor attached to the motherboard for now until you are certain the GTX1070 works. Then go into the BIOS and disable the iGPU and attach the other monitor to the GTX1070.

*You still want to cleanly remove the NVidia drivers and reinstall them.

I will try with the drivers the next chance I get and reinstall them completely like you suggest.

With the iGPU yeah I think it's that, but I have it enabled for just my second monitor I think? My main monitor is connected to my GPU HDMI socket whilst my second monitor is connected to my motherboard's, so would that mean they run off the connected device's graphics?
