Hi, my pc config is

cpu: i5 4590k 3.3 mhz
mobo: x97 sli krait edition.
ram: g.skill (2*4) gb 1866 mhz
cooler: arctic freezer rev.2
case: thermaltake versa h22
psu: thermaltake smart 550w
gpu: zotac 750 ti 2gb.

my question is now I want to upgrade my gpu to gtx 970 or gtx 980, I even like the r9 390. but do I have to change the power supply if I want to upgrade? or I can actually have the same psu with the upgraded one?

I tried the pc part picker, it shows no problem but I saw so many review online that if I want gtx 980 or r9 390 even gtx 970 I have to have at least 600-650w psu. I on a budget now, so is their any way you guys can recommend that what I should do. my zotac can't run new games very well.

Thanks.

Solution
Wait a month or two, and buy an AMD RX480 for $199. GTX980 power for less than $200!!

AND....

You will not need to upgrade the power supply. The card only needs a single 6 pin connector to run.
