Hello all,
Recently I have been so feed up with my pc that im about to throw it out of a window. First off im going to put down my pc specs
Intel I5 6600
Asrock h170m pro4
2 4 gig sticks of G.Skill ripjaws V 2133 ram
EVGA GTX 960 SSC
EVGA 500B power supply
Crucial M500 240 gig SSD
Hitachi 500 gig 5400rpm 2.5 Hard drive (Grabbed it out of a old laptop)
Phanteks p400 case

Alright to the problems
1) Will resume the computer from sleep the computer fans will ramp up and down and nothing will display on the screen, I will then need to turn off power to the power supply and restart the computer. Where it will then work properly. I then looked in the error log and it showed multiple hardware errors and windows stopped working.
2) Sometimes like the problem above I will put the computer on sleep and the computer will then restart (by its self) when trying to resume from sleep.
3) I will start up my computer from shutoff, will proceed to the home start screen where pixeled boxes make lines diagonally on the screen, I will then try to open up another page and the same thing will happen on the page. I then restart the computer and its fine again.

What I have done to try to fix the problem
2 passes of memtest showed ram with no errors
updated bios
updated graphics drivers
cleaned off all graphics drivers and fresh installed the newest drivers
Clean the gpu and cpu, both run at good temps
Clean install windows 2 or 3 times

The computer works great most of the time but these problems are so random that you think whatever you did last time got rid of them. But then NOPE there they are again. Im thinking it is the graphics card since most of these are graphical problems. I have talked to EVGA and they offered a rma but I would like a 2nd opinion before I spend money shipping it to them. Also if anyone could let me know how to tell what the hardware error is in event log, if there are number keywords or something.

Any help or opinion on what I should do would be greatly appreciated

looking at ur specs, i beleive its a newish build...sometimes new hardwares tend to run into initialization issues due to their stock condition...its not mandatory but happens every so often randomly...
imagine a stock tyre on a racing circuit...those guys need to do warm up laps to make them smooth...sumthing like that...
but if its running properly now, shouldnt be a concern for u anymore...
also, that psu cud be the problem as its not one of the best out there...u shd try to tweak ur power settings if this happens again...

So after trying my old GTX 650 in the rig and not getting any random errors for a couple of days I decided to give the 960 one more shot. I installed the card and installed the newest drivers and amazingly have not run into any errors *Knock on wood*. I have absolutely no clue what happened this time but i'm just glad the rig is running strong again.

Unfortunately my problem has returned after a full week of no problems. Like before I woke my pc up from sleep and the screen did not recognize the pc. After that the computers fans ramped, and then the PC restarted. This time I looked a little deeper into the event log and found under "shut down unexpectedly" BlueScreen with a code of 116. I never looked into this one previously because I thought it was a bit self explanatory. Also I never knew it blue screened because I never saw it pop up on the monitor. Besides that I got all the other errors that I had previously,

Windows was not properly shut down
"The previous system shutdown at 10:00:52 AM on ‎7/‎3/‎2016 was unexpected."

Windows stopped working
"The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck"

Hardware Error
"A problem with your hardware caused Windows to stop working correctly."
Problem Event Name: LiveKernelEvent
Code: 141

Hardware Error
"A problem with your hardware caused Windows to stop working correctly."
Problem Event Name: LiveKernelEvent
Code: 117

Another 2 livekernalevent 141

Im disappointed that the problem had to come back, I thought it was over with but i guess not... Im trying to look into how to open the minidump to see what happened, but at this point I really dont know.

almost all of them are referring to ur video card...do it in this order and see if it helps...
> download display driver uninstaller from guru3d...run it and uninstall all current drivers...
> power off the system and reset the cmos battery...
> now go to the nvidia website and download the latest drivers for the card and install them...
> along with that u should update ur...vcredist, c++ redistributable, directx, and .net framework...

let us know wat happns...

Ok so I uninstalled the drivers, reset the cmos by taking out the battery for 4 hours and with the cmos jumper on clear, and then installed the drivers. I then put the computer to sleep and came back to it latter. It crashed out of sleep like usual. On restart I used a program to check what was crashing every time and it came back with nvlddmkm.sys caused the crash with a Video TDR error. I have not updated vcredist,c++, ect. I dont know if that will help at this point.

Unfortunately that fix didn't work. I put the computer to sleep and again it blue screened, with the same cause. I still need to try updating all of the rest(vcredist,c++, ect) though so we will see if that makes any difference.

So right now I'm just waiting for my RMA to get accepted so I now need to get the card ready for shipping. Unfortunately I threw out the box it came in so I'm maybe just going to put it in a motherboard anti static bag and some bubble rap.
