Ah yes hello, I'm new here; and I very much appreciate the time you take to ready my question. I'm a PC novice so I'm not entirely well versed, But recently my Hard Drive died on me so I had to replace it. I ordered a 1.0 TB western digital Hard Drive and I Just placed it in my PC. I made myself a bootable USB flash drive to install Windows 10, and it did installed, but strangely it took me back into the installation screen. After removing the drive and restarting my PC a few times I kept on getting the message that there was no bootable device avaliable. I checked my bios, in my boot sequence the drive is at the top of the list so I assume that my AMD 760G motherbord is recognizing it and my cables seem to be plugged in properly. Despite having it installed but no OS booting from the new Hard Drive, I'm not entirely sure what to do now. Any help will be very much appreciated, and thank you reading this; also please forgive me if this is actually an easy fix. Thank you all so much!

Solution
As there are some previous windows installations, then I believe you can partition and format the drive before the installation.
Once you are in Windows setup:
- shift+F10 to bring up the command line.
- diskpart [enter]
- list disk [enter]
- select drive [number] [enter]
- clean all [enter]
- create partition primary [enter]
- select partition 1 [enter]
- active [enter]
- format fs=ntfs [enter]
- assign [enter]
- exit [enter]
- exit [enter]

Have you updated your MOBO's drivers?

Your Bios may recognize the drive, however you will need to check prioritization for each drive. and which drive to boot to.
Also make sure your USB is prioritized first initially, to allow installation of your OS.
Once the OS is installed then prioritize the HDD. After installation the system will reboot but bring you back to your installation USB, if you have not changed the priority in Bios.

Hi there FloralDecay,

Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive. :(

So, you have: created a bootable flash drive -> installed OS on the drive -> removed the flash drive -> getting no bootable device message while the HDD is the first device in the boot order?

Did you get some sort of an error message? Did the installation process finish successfully?

My suggestions would be:
- Attach the drive with different cables to another port.
- Go to BIOS and remove all the other devices from boot order except for the HDD.
- In case the issue persists, then you will need to install OS once again.
- If this does not help, then you can attach the drive to another system and run both short and extended DLG tests on it: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=Tm8bSK

Let me know how this goes,
D_KnoW_WD :)

@MeanMachine45 and D_Know_WD: Thanks so much for replying! I checked the prioritization for the boot, and the hard drive is the first place it would look for a OS. I disabled (and changed it all to the drive at one point as well) and disabled the ability to boot from outside devices as well just in case. Didn't resolve the issue. I installed windows another three times, out of pure frustration. It seems to be installing properly (It even tells me that there is files from a previous windows installation.) after it finishes it says it needs to restart, and after it does so, I end back at the same scenario. I don't get a error message, only message I get after it looks is that no bootable device found or no bootable device found and that I need to reset or instert a proper device and press any key. I also tried different ports, but that offered no solution either. I haven't done the DLG test yet but very soon I will and give an update about that when I can. Again thank you both so much for replying!

Also MeanMachine45 don't worry about the down vote, it was accidental. I'm still slightly new to the sight and I was on mobile at the time, and again I apologize about that.

Thanks so much! Formatting it that way helped the entire situation, it's booting on the HardDrive bow. Thanks so much D_Know_WD! And thank you MeanMachine45, your input also helped me narrow some things done. Thank you both for your help
