System freezes, no BSOD

So I my PC has began to freeze every time I try to browse specific websites and run non intensive applications as well as randomly freezing when left Idle. I have not changed anything. I am running Windows 10 64bit. Weirdest thing is this has never happened before and I have not changed anything. Another strange thing is the fact that games such as GTA 5, Crysis, CS:GO, Skyrim all run fine as they have been.

Additional Information: (Specs in signature)
I have done a memtest which came up with no errors (1 pass). I have 3 drives. A Kingston HyperX Fury 120gb SSD (boot drive) a WD 1TB black and also a WD 1TB Green. The SSD and 1Tb black are less than a year old and the Green is roughly 3 years old. All drives are about 50% full.
I have checked the system logs after each crash and there are no reoccurring errors or errors in general.
FX- 8320 is running at 4.5ghz @ 1.416v
R9 280x running at 1100mhz on the core and 1600 on memory. (1050, 1500 stock)
Power supply is less than a year old.

Any ideas as to why it might have suddenly began crashing?

Thanks,

Thanks, how do you clear the jumper settings? CMOS is cleared by removing the CMOS battery right? I don't have another PSU lying around however wouldn't the fact that I can run resource intensive games such as Crysis 3 and stress test software show that my PSU is not the problem? Also I have already run a memtest on each dimm however it was only one pass. How many passes would you recommend I do?

Thanks!

Hi there Andy0432,

I would agree with Hellfire13. Faulty RAM could cause similar issues. My suggestion would be to run your system with only one RAM stick at a time.

In case the issue persists, try to leave the system to bare minimum: take all the drives out except for the OS one and leave single RAM stick.
Updating your MOBO's drivers will not hurt as well.

Cheers,
D_Know_WD :)

Ok, update on the situation. So I individually tested each stick. 0 errors after 3 passes each. I have yet to take out all the other drives and just test the one with the OS.
I however just realized something i DID change. I updated my 280x driver to a Beta one (no idea why) and I think its screwing with my gpu now. I'm going to try and downgrade to the last stable version.
Wish me luck :^)

Thanks.

Yeah, almost certain its the drivers fault. Did a little research on v16.6.1 drivers and turns out other people are having problems as well. Furthermore, upon viewing the v16.6.1 hotfix "patch notes", it states fixed problem: "FFXIV can experience black screen or experience an application hang." "AMD Radeon™ Fury Series may experience corruption on desktop when system is idle for an extended period of time." I don't own a fury but I am experiencing the same issue.
Will update once I download the hotfix.

Nope, no luck. Hotfix didn't work, uninstalled and reinstalled previous driver, flash games still caused my computer to freeze as well as going on "fraps.com" (no idea why fraps.com specifically, I first found out the problem when I went on the website.) so so far, memtest yields no errors, prime95 for 2 hours yields no errors, reverting to old drivers doesn't work. I don't understand how something as intensive as crysis 3 for 2+ hours doesn't cause my computer to freeze but accessing fraps.com and flash games causes my computer to freeze. Freezing is very strange, any sound coming from
headphones instantly stops, screen freezes, mouse is frozen etc. Also, freezing isn't instant ie I can browse the webpage for roughly 5-10 seconds before it freezes. HDD light stops instantly as well (maybe hard drive problem?) If it was a hard drive problem why does everything else run fine. Could it possibly be a software problem and if so, what might it be?

Ok, so I finally figured out what the problem was. Fraps.com included a little flash banner on the right of the webpage and flash games also caused my computer to freeze. Adobe flash apparently doesn't like overclocked hardware, with the stock speed, flash powered software was no problem however as soon as I deviate from stock speeds flash freezes my computer every time. No idea why Adobe flash would do this but i'm currently looking into it.

Ok, so it turns out I'm a complete idiot/amateur when it comes to overclocking although I have no clue how im only just beginning to get crashes. C1E, SVM, C6 state and Cool 'n' Quiet were all enabled. No idea how I missed it. System is flawless now. *facepalm*
