Hello Friends,
I had bought a Crucial Ballistix Elite 16GB kit of 2X8GB DDR4 dual chanel memory(2666Mhz) but one of the ram sticks was defective. The carrier shipping charges were crazy for returning the item..so I bought a Corsair vengence 16gb kit of 2X8gb DDR4 dual chanel memory(2666Mhz).Since the speed of the ram sticks are same, the guy at the store where I bought my second kit from told me that there will be no problems with any ram sticks even if they are of different brands.I have Gigabyte z170xp sli mobo and i5-6600(non K) CPU.I would like to know if I can run all the working ram sticks(24GB) on my mobo without any problem or even in triple chanel if that is possible?

They will probably work together, but not in dual channel. Also, there aren't and have never been any triple channel memory controllers, so , no.

So you mean to say that I can run the same brand sticks in dual chanel and the different brand stick separately with no issues, right??

No. Dual channel mode will get disabled when you add the third stick. Personally, I would just keep the 2x8 kit as you're not really going to use more than 16 gigs.

yes there are triple channel memory controllers. intel's LGA 1366 CPUs used it.

My bad. Well, i don;t think we'll see any more of that anyway.
