Hello friends,

I am in need of some expertise.

I am looking for a gaming desktop build that will cost me no more than 1000 dollars. I plan on puting in a gtx 1080 superclocked gpu in it. Also in Canadian dollars would be great since I live in Canada. I plan on building this myself by ordering the parts or just getting a pre-built one however those are hard to find.

Solution

with that budget you can't really get the 1080. it's waaay to expensive. with 1000 dollars max you can get smth like the gtx 970/980 or r9 390(x). maybe gtx 1070 but you would need a good cpu as well which adds up some extra costs if you don't want any bottleneck

I would suggest this:
-one of the gpus listed above or wait for the RX480
-an i5 4xxx or i5 6xxx
-8 gb...

-an i5 4xxx or i5 6xxx
-8 gb ram
-a decent PSU (very important)
-since you're on a budget i would recommend staying with a budget case. the best budget case i've ever seen is the s340 for just 60$
if you don't have much left get a hdd. if you can buy a 250 gb ssd and later on add 1 tb or smth. or just get a 250 gb ssd.

I already have a 1080 sitting on my desk in front of me.

o so if you already have a gpu and you got 1000$ left you can get a really high-end rig.
I would do this:
i7 6700k
nzxt h440
a decent psu (Seasonic M12ii Evo 620W is what I have)
8/16 gb ram
a z170 motherboard

I probably can't get an i7, probably an i5-6600k.

I just need hardware capable of supporting the 1080 that would cost me no more than 1000.
