I have had several USB keyboards (a touch typist, I MUST have a real keyboard) but after plugging these in a bunch, they stop

Complaint about USB keyboards failing to work after maybe 100 plug-ins. I realize the contacts need to be refurbished, I am just looking for an easy way to do this that works!

Solution
Didn't mean any offense.

There are some quality wireless keyboards that might meet your needs. This one is a mechanical keyboard http://www.wireless-computing.com/products/mechanical-keyboard/

That was just a quick search.
Are you buying a quality keyboard or something cheap? It has nothing to do with it being usb. Are you putting pressure on the port unnecessarily? Are you being rough when plugging in and unplugging. It might be you damaging the port or the cable.

I have been programming computers since the late 1970's and now I teach computer science at our local university. To answer your question, no I do not think I am being rough on anything in this case, although I can remember slapping some systems around and having them work better! I am on my notebook almost 24/7 writing C++ code like crazy and I just like to have a real keyboard around to do this. I have noticed about 4 USB keyboards that all quit working, I guess after many repeated plugins the USB contacts need to be refurbished, or use WD40 on it, or something. Just wonder if anyone has any suggestion on this. I am far more software knowledgeable than hardware wise.
