Hey guys, I bought a Seasonic S12II 620 W PSU about a month ago. It worked fine though while heavy usage the fan did get a bit louder, especially while playing counter strike. None of this seriously bothered me, but tonight there was an explosion from somewhere behind the pc, and a blue spark seemed to appear too. Now since it was so quick, I cant be sure what it was, but I suspect it was the PSU. However what I find strange is that about 5 seconds after it happened, the pc restarted and everything seems to be working fine. How do I make sure everything is alright?

Solution
You make sure everything is alright by removing that PSU and replacing it right away.
Just because its running does not mean its safe, quite the opposite.

Contact seasonic for an RMA, its rare that that series has issues, but it happens.

I've emailed the distributor and told them what happened and asked for guidance, so I'm waiting for that. Should I have just asked for a replacement? (I'm not very experienced with these things) I've physically checked the other components too, and nothing seems to be fried, and things are working normally, but I wont keep the pc on for long tonight. There's no strong smell coming either. Could it be that a bug flew in or something not related to the PSU?

I wouldnt risk anything with it, blue sparks are electrical sparks (sounds redundant but stick with it). A bug or something wouldnt cause anything like that.
Seasonic should have no issue replacing the unit that sparked, something failed and they back their products.

Fair enough. I guess I'll just email them tomorrow to ask for a replacement. It's only a month old so I shouldnt have any issues. Thanks a lot for the quick reply!

Oh and to add to my reply, is it normal that the pc and psu still runs after an explosion?

Thats precisely why I wondered if it was an external factor for the explosion

Yep. I've contacted the seller and hopefully they get back to me soon. Thank you
