Hi, I have an FX-6300 on a basic Gigabyte board (970a-ds3). I've been attempting mild overclocks for the past few months and I am only able to get it stable at 4.1Ghz
I have two questions, firstly.. Will an overclock at 4.1Ghz perform better than this CPU's 4.1Ghz turbo speed? and if so is it worth doing considering the extra heat and voltage?
Secondly.. I have been toying with setting the CPU to use only 4 cores in BIOS, could someone tell me if this is safe to do long term?, using only 4 cores i have a steady overclock of 4.4Ghz without my temps getting too high. I'm finding it a bit confusing as I read that the 6300 only has 3 true cores.
