Hi. I bought Samsung evo 850 250gb ssd and used the migrate program to move my windows 10 from the hdd to the ssd. After I removed the hdd and installed the ssd Cpu usage is 70-99% without any program open. My cheap laptop is struggling, please help.

Solution

I wouldn't be able to tell you how long it takes for background processes to finish processing. Your best bet is to take a look and see what is using up your CPU. If it's a program which doesn't need to be running then maybe it needs to be uninstalled.
Cheap laptop...Before your slow HDD was holding your computer back, the CPU was barely doing anything because it was waiting on the HDD to deliver. Now that the HDD is gone, your SSD is delivery data to be processed to your CPU faster than it can handle. Just give it enough time and you will see that usage come down. Your PC should still be much faster even with full CPU utilization then before when it was waiting on the HDD.

So there isn't a problem then? The cpu is Celeron B830 (2 cores 1.8ghz) and 4gb ram. It's annoying that the fan is constantly spinning and the mouse cursor is constantly loading. So how long will it take till things settle down? (This is my first ssd)
