After upgrading to Windows 10 my sound would keep stopping. Initially the driver would stop, but after installing latest drivers (Toshiba L750-1E8) the sound would stop, but the device manager was saying everything was working ok. As I discovered Toshiba does not support Win10 on this machine.
After downgrading back to Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit I now have the same problem. Initially I thought it a flash problems, as if I went into flash control panel and accessed my microphone the sound would come back.
I upgraded to latest version, reinstalled, uninstalled and tried an earlier version of flash. I I tried Chrome Canary, I completely uninstalled all chrome, plus all flash, uninstalled all sound drivers all to still no avail. I have run system checker and chkdsk. I also realised it was not flash as the same problem happens on silverlight running on Internet Explorer after flash and chrome were uninstalled. I have downloaded and reinstalled all latest drivers.
I have cleared temporary files / cache and removed flash folders. I have also installed Intel HDMI drivers, upgraded the BIOS. I am running full versions of AVG and Malwarebytes and these show no infections.
