try this.
being the 1070, its much better. also the SSD is a very good BUDGEt one. for those cheap SSD haters. also I got a better cooler, also provided a better quality PSU.
and seriously, Kaspersky, MacAfee? like use Avast. its free.
also you got some room for a 1080p 144Hz monitor if you can go 20 bucks overbudget.

as of the paste, the included paste with the H7 is pretty good, but anything like IC Diamond, MX-4, or GC-Extreme will do

I'm trying to figure out where all the money went.
1 the case only comes with one fan so more will be needed.
2 no need for that thermal paste what comes with the cooler is better.
3 X2 anti=virus?
4 G1 power supply is a no you can buy better for less money.
5 That is a very poor WIFI card.
6 AOC monitor not something I would buy.
7 PS4 controller is that needed?
8 Overpriced motherboard.
9 The 300 buck GTX 970 performance will be beat by the RX 480 for 200 bucks when it's released the 29th of this month.
10 You should be able to get Windows for free or for a very reduced price through school.
11 Very poor speaker quality but should put out some sound.
Be careful where you buy from like Super Slow is very slow and charges a lot of shipping cost.

Upgrades you to a i7 processor for the game design adds over 2X the hard drive space (you will need this) high quality WIFI and power supply (more power than you need, adequate cooling (add the extra fan to the front blowing in) IPS monitor, all prices include the shipping cost. Buy the RX 480 when released. (200 bucks better performance than the 300 buck 970)

Still leaves you the money in the budget for the Keyboard set and PS4. Really close to the 1500 anyhow. I would leave off the PS4 if over budget and buy it later.
The monitor has built in speakers that put out sound not the best but the headset I think you will be mainly using.
For mainly gaming you could get the i5 6600K and save a hundred bucks but the i7 will help with work programs.

Thanks I'll keep a eye out for the RX 480. My desktop will be for school (online) and gaming. My advisor told me i would need an i5 but i checked the recommended specs and it called for an i7
2600k. Do you think i'll be good for gaming and school with the I7?

No don't get ru c7. Use a tower cooler, not low profile. And you get a GTX 1070 Also grab some cooler master sickleflow fans for that case.

Honestly, I could never believe I didn't think of this. This Xeon offers i7 4770 performance for 100$ less. Also pair it with a h97 or b85 board. True it's still haswell, but the gains are very well worth it. 16GB ram, a GTX 1070 even! Get the RX 480 is you want to, but I mean man a GTX 1070'smells good. Also a good PSU, cooler, though not needed, for sound. Also you get a case to choose. Choose your own case. I can't dictate your decisions on that. And I mean SSD and a WD blue or even black of you can add it. This is great.
