My PC has been acting up lately, it has been blackscreening and been unresponsive at times. The full description is when I press the power button, my PC loads up, goes to desktop, but after a second or so, the screen blacks out completely. The tower has light, I can hear fans spinning.
This happened a previous time. That time, I powered it down, removed power source, and opened the tower to see if there were any missing bits. Hoping for luck I just plugged everything in and powered it up, and it worked. The duration from when I had the issue to when I re-started and it worked was about half an hour, maybe more.
The same issue happened just now., with the same description. This time I just left the computer there with the power off and waited for about half an hour or so. I turned it back on and it worked after a couple of tries. The attempt that succeeded had the display of whether I want to choose safe mode or not.

One thing I noticed is that my grandfather charged his phone from the same multi plug as my computer gets its power from. I'm not sure if this causes the issue, because on both occasions, that was what I noticed. So I believe it may be a power problem. But as you can probably tell, I'm not a tech based person and hardly understand any lingo.

Currently, my computer is working without any visible issues. My worry is that it will occur again and when that happens, I would want to know what to do so I don't mess things up. If le expert could lend some help and hopefully provide step by step instructions, I would greatly appreciate it.

Have you attempted using another video output? I would try that first, maybe with a different cable too. Do you have a graphics card or not? I would suggest trying both onboard and GPU if you have one. And make sure you switch between the two in the BIOS, or if you have both on then you won't have to.

I'm not quite sure how to do any of the above. By video output, I suppose you mean where I plug in my monitor's cable? I see another output, but the pins do not match so I assume I don't have another output.
I have an AMD graphics card, but I'm not sure what 'onboard' is and how to switch between that and my GPU.
I can't access the BIOS because my screen is black from the moment I turn on my computer. My monitor doesn't show any startup.

This had happened again, and I force-shutdown the computer a few times and finally got to a screen for Startup Repair. I ran Startup Repair and everything seems to work fine now. But the same had happened before, and the Startup Repair path was what I took for the first time it happened. Second time it didn't suggest S.R and instead suggested Safe Mode.
