my mobo and PSU listed below have connectors for ATX 24-pin and ATX
8-pin should I use both of these

Asus rog maximus viii hero
Evga supernova 850 g2 80 plus gold
Gtx 1080
Intel i7 6700k

Solution

Yes you have to use those two cables. Without them the computer will not work.
