GTX 980 vs R9 390X or GTX 1070?

So in around 20 days I am going to order my PC parts. Everything is figured out as of now except for my GPU.

I am struggling between gtx 980 and r9 390x. The msi version of the 980 is currently $370 and the XFX version of the 390x is $290 (though there must be a catch right? How can such a card be so cheap seriously?). The 390x is WAY cheaper but the 980 has WAY better drivers, optimization, etc. I know the "optimization" is bs from nvidia to go against AMD's open-source thing, but right now, it seems to be doing better. So should I pay more and get the 980 or pay less and get the 390? This is my first build and I've had no experience with AMD (I have nvidia on my laptop).

Here is my build right now: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/LQrTWX

I NEED to keep it under $1450-ish.

Then comes another option going by the name of GTX 1070. The FE 1070 is complete bs at $450 but if i can possibly cut down somewhere OR wait for the drop/msrp releases (i only have 20 days btw), i can take that.

Right now, i'm EXACTLY on the border of my budget because i'm leaning towards the 980 because drivers, etc. so if i need to add something, i cannot

I plan on mostly playing games like the witcher 3 (with mods) and bf1 when its out. So what card should i get?

Note: I need an i7 because i will be doing some intense video editing.
I also cannot upgrade anything (other than small things like case fans) within the next year or so.

Also just for a little knowledge, anybody know some good pc games coming anytime soon?

Thanks.

Solution
keepin it under the $1450 is kinda tough, they went overboard on these aftermarket 1070 prices. The 1080 aftermarkets are all well below the founders cards for the most part. Shame really.

Why? Because 980 price may drop? Hmmm.... idk but rx 480 comes out on june 29, and it may take a while for others to drop.

Because the rx480 should outperform the GTX980 and 390x and use less power @ only $199 ,assuming that will be for the 4GB version, 8Gb should be a bit more. I cant confirm that it would perform better but if you go by on what the Internet is saying then there is a big chance that it whould. All we can do now is to wait for 29 June

I think Vega will be out by the time the 1070 goes anywhere near the MSRP...

True but if you can get any of the aibs besides FE for $30-50 more than the 980, it would definitely be worth it...you have to watch the stock though like a hawk to get one. I had to when I was getting hybrid 980 ti, the minute they came in stock they were gone unless you had every different place auto notify and got lucky to where you could buy it within a minute or two of them coming in stock..it sucked, took me a few weeks.

Yea true but that won't happen for a while and waiting that long without a gpu would be quite troublesome.

I know...I know...but I don't have another choice than to wait for the drop and time isn't something I have too much of.

The prices on the aftermarket cards WHERE ok, then retailers jacked them up to the moon when they saw the demand.
