DonkeyOatie :
What games in particular? Modern games have moved past two core/two thread CPUs. I would not use less than an i3 for a modern gaming system. (I have two G3258's and use them for testing and overclocking practice at school)
Aside from that, the balance between GPU and CPU depends on specific games, game settings, and resolution and refresh speed.
Well first to reply to iamthecrowe. I turn off all background programs when i start gaming and have set the priority in task manager to realtime when i game. To DonkeyOatie, I mainly play Bf4, Minecraft with lower chunks (when my cousin is over.), BO3, and Mirrors Edge Catalyst. And to bicycle_repair_man, i can overclock because i have some of headroom. (650w and a gigabyte h61m motherboard which can now overclock.).
To everyone. 2 BIG THINGS I FORGOT TO MENTION! I play at 720p with 120hz or 1080p at 60hz. Someties i like 720p at 60hz. I do this for the FPS , and i dont really notice resolution that much as even 480p can look sharp with a 480p monitor XD.
2nd big thing: I have a spare lga 1155 motherboard and i5 2400 laying aroun. Should i use that instead or wait a really long time for a i3 4130?
