I live in Australia and I had my TV, blue ray player and oil heater plugged into a power board but after about 25 minutes the power board tripped and everything turned off. I know its because of the power/amps drain being too much so my question to fix this is to plug the heater into the second wall socket and the power board into the first wall socket as there are two sockets on the same wall power plug. Does someone know if a 2X socket wall power outlet is wired with a single cable or are they separate cables that way I can use the heater and power board separately and not worry of a problem like the heater causing over heated cables to the point of electrical fire as I dont have a second power board with a cut off mechanism at the moment.

They are most likely on the same breaker, along with every other outlet within a given room or along a given wall. In North America, the only place where you can expect to see an exception to that is the kitchen counter where outlets are required to be split between at least two breakers in new constructions.

It really depends on your country's electrical code/ your homes electrician. Its very unlikely to have each socket wired individually, however, I believe in Canada, some sockets in the kitchen are wired individually to accommodate heavy power draw things like a toaster and blender working concurrently.

Its really easy to check in most cases. Just turn of the breaker, and unscrew the socket and see how many wires are connected to it.
