Hi I've had this graphics card for a couple of years now and I am starting to find that my fps in games such as Battlefield 4 and Overwatch will go from a strong 60-120fps on High-Mid settings to a sudden 30-40fps. This happens randomly and will not change unless I restart the game or even my computer.

My specs are: Intel I7 4790 @ 3.60GHz, MSI Z97 Gaming 3, 8Gb DDR3 Ram and a Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 EVGA SC (2Gb) and a Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 500W PSU, running on 64Bit Windows 10.

Any ideas on what could be the problem? The only slight guess on what it could be is possibly the PSU since it is the oldest thing in my computer and this issue is only as of recent since I had upgraded my Motherboard and Processor. Thanks for the help!

Yes I have, I think what I have currently diagnosed the problem to be is that when my GPU reaches around 80c it starts to drop in frames. I don't know if this is normal but I have setup a custom fan curve on MSI afterburner to try and keep it below that temperature.

Do you have good ventilation system inside your case, also have you cleaned your computer parts from dust, you might wanna check your CPU temps as just to make sure that the cooling is functional, was this happening before or after installing windows 10, and for 80c degree for the GPU temps its fine, its hot but that won't cause it to drop that huge amount of fps

I have recently cleaned my computer to no change in temperatures as my PC is often clean from dust, the ventilation in the case is not the best due to the case not allowing for cable management and the PSU not having long enough cables. However the computer has enough room around it for air to flow freely. It was all running fine on windows 10 until recently so I doubt that is a problem. I can confirm by keeping the temperature below 80c it keeps at a stable fps.
