This build is for my friend. He's going to use it as a general day to day computer, for schoolwork, and for gaming. Some things may seem a bit overkill for this use, but he wants it to last a long time and rather pay a lot now then have to change parts.

He's going to be gaming in 1080p and will mostly play FPS games.

Budget: ~$2500

Country: US

I can't choose between the two monitors. They both seem really good but I don't know which is better. So I was hoping you could help lol. And if there are better options, please let me know.

MOBO: I find the mobo the hardest thing to choose because there are so many things to consider, so I just googled a bit and this thing seemed pretty good from reviews. I also checked on pcpartpicker to see what people used and this was used quite often. Is the one I chose good? Is there a better alternative?

Will 32gb still be useless for his use a few years down the line? Should I stick with 16gb? And the RAM I chose, is that a good speed/cas one?

NOTE: He wants a red/black theme.

There is no GPU because we're waiting on the 1070's prices to drop a bit. But he's getting a 1070 for sure.

All of that considered, is the PSU overkill?

Thank you!

Solution
Seems kind of pointless to put a CPU Cooler and Z series board with a locked CPU. Either switch out the 6700 for the K model, or scale back to a good H170 board and forgo the cooler entirely.

Oh wow. I don't know much about motherboards so I didn't know about that lol. Thanks. So is it also pointless to switch to the 6700K if I don't plan on overclocking? Or does it have benefits other than overclocking?

Also, you mean to say I would be fine gaming with a 6700 with the stock/no cpu cooler? How's that?

It depends what the overall budget is. In this price range I'd almost say get the overclockable build in case your friend ever decides to try it in the future, but you aren't going to see much in the way of performance difference. The only other major difference is that the locked boards can only run low speed DDR4 RAM, but that's relatively minor.
