Intel Motherboard doesn't allow boot if it doesn't detect a cpu fan

I have an intel DP67BG motherboard with an arctic freezer 7 pro rev. 2 cpu cooler. The wire meant to carry data about the fan speed to the motherboard tends not to work, so the fan will keep spinning, but the motherboard doesn't want to boot into the os unless it recieves that data, and just tells me to "check case fans." Currently I have the connectors for the cpu fan and one of the front case fans swapped, which lets me use my computer, and seems to be keeping temperatures under control (unigine valley benchmark only increased the temperature to 47 C from 40 C), but it's not ideal. Short of buying a new cpu cooler, is there any solution to this? I should have mentioned before; the cpu in this case is is a xeon e3-1220 v2, and it can't be overclocked. I could probably just put on the stock cooler, but even with the connectors swapped, the aftermarket one keeps it cooler on average, and it's a real hassle for me to have to swap these coolers out.

I know, but I'm lazy and cheap. I just wanted to put my half-assed solution out there in case there's any real problem with having the cpu fan set up that way other than heat.
