Will GTX 1080 fit on DDR3 motherboard?

I have asus crosshair v formula-z which is PCI express 3.0 and DDR3 but I am soo worried because this new GTX 1080 is DDR5 but will it fit on DDR3 slots?


My specs is

7870 graphic card

FX 6300

Samsung hard drive 512gb

16gb ram

Powersupply 800

The memory that goes into the DDR3 slots are called DIMMs and not the memory on your GPU which has its own DDR5 memory. A little confusion there.
Your GPU would be slotted into a PCIEe slot. Your DDR3 DIMMs go into the RAM slots of the MB.
