Hello, Im looking for some advice

Recently my MSI Golden Edition 980ti seems to have crapped out on me. Thought it was a driver problem but after extensive testing, some friends and I have come to the conclusion that its a hardware problem.

That being said I have a 2 year warranty at Microcenter. At any time I can go there, and get a gift card for the original amount I paid for the graphics card *around 700+ dollars* With the new 1080 coming out, i figured I would just upgrade. But for the third time, I missed the inventory. It seems so sporadic that I can never get there in time. They will randomly get 10 in, and sell out during the day before I can get off work.

I havent been able to play any new games for about a month now. I am almost at the point that I would just get another 980ti (they have an EVGA classified that no one wants that I could trade in for) and have like 200 dollars left over for something like a 1440p monitor

So my question to you guys, should I be patient and just keep trying for the 1080 with hope I can get one soon, or should I just get the classified 980ti and use the extra money I will have on the monitor. list of PC parts below..thank you in advance for you responses.

That is a good deal.
But, GTX1080 seems overkill for 1080P gaming.

Unless you are looking to 1440P or 4k gaming, another GTX980ti would be good.

And... EVGA has a 90 day trade up program so you might be able to get a GTX1080 anyway. Read the fine print details.
