Did I buy the wrong ram?

Hello, I'm building my first PC and I recently purchased some parts. I have an Asus Maximus V3 Hero mobo, F4-3000C15D-16GRBB G.Skill ram, and I'll be ordering an Intel Skylake processor next week. From what I'm reading in my mobo user guide, that specific model of ram isn't listed under the compatible ram types, and I'm worried I need to send it back. Could one of you more experienced builders tell me if I need to order different memory and if so, what kind would work best for my setup? Thanks in advance.

Solution
1) that memory is not specifically designed for x99. ram isnt designed for a specific platform. there are certain limitations across specific motherboards, but they won't be a concern enough to explain. the set you bought should be compatible. i believe you saw the x99 thing on newegg and that is misleading marketing.

2) 4x4gb is only what asus tested on the board. ram sizes make no difference. the motherboard manual will let you know the maximum amount each slot will take. i believe that board will take 16gb per slot.

you are over thinking it.

My two major concerns are this: 1) that ram is designed to run on a x99 chipset, not skylake and 2) the mobo user guide has all the compatible 3000mhz ram listed as 16gb at 4x4gb, while I bought and installed 32gb at 4x8gb

I probably am lol. You've set my mind at ease though. I know jjuuuussstt enough about PC building to be dangerous, my expertise lies more with software than hardware. Thanks a bunch, I'm gonna go back to building a badass rig :) I plan to eventually install two gtx 1080 cards in sli in this thing.

I won't be buying them at the same time, that's a bit rich for my blood. But I've got a curved 4k TV with hdmi 2.0 ports, and I'm really itching to get a few games up to 4k@120fps
