Alright, thanks for clicking on my thread.

So I'm running my PC on Windows 8.1 Pro (Build 9600) and lately I've been getting a few more computer freezes than I'm comfortable with. They happen at least a couple times a day, seemingly for no reason. I've noticed that they tend to happen more when I'm using the Internet (initially I thought it may have been a Chrome problem because I'm no computer wiz, but Internet Explorer has been no better), but there have a few freezes when I'm gaming here and there as well.

Once my computer freezes, often I can still move my mouse but everything else is unresponsive. I can't bring up Task Manager or Command Prompt, use CTRL + ALT + DELETE, etc. Thus, my only solution has been to shut off my PC via the power button on the tower and reboot from there.

I've noticed, however, that when this happens, my startup time becomes RIDICULOUSLY long. I'm talking upwards of half an hour. Sometimes my PC blue screens while the spinning dots animation plays, and automatically restarts itself. Other times, I get thrown into the Automatic Repair dilemma. When I'm directed to the blue screen and am offered Advanced Options, I usually take the easy way out and continue to Windows because I have no idea what else to do.

I thought initially that disabling high usage startup processes in Task Manager may fix the problem, but that wasn't the case; I find that whenever I shut off the PC when it's still functioning (i.e., going to the Start menu and hitting the power button in Windows), my startup time is still superb, less than 10 - 15 seconds from hitting the power button I'm able to unlock my PC and use Windows.

Can anyone offer some help on this? I know that computer freezes in general is a VERY large spectrum of possible issues, but anything is appreciated. Anything. Thank you for reading this far. My PC specs are listed below, although I'm unsure if that'll be of any help.

Motherboard - MSI A78M-E35Sapphire Radeon R7 260X

try these steps.

Try to scan the computer with a good virus guard and check if there is a virus infection.
Use a 3rd party utility software like "ccleaner" or "advanced system care" to optimize your Operating system.
disable any unwanted applications and browser plug-ins.
update your driver softwares for the latest supported version.(you can obtain from your motherboard manufacture's website).
