I recently moved into a new apartment. I hooked up my modem, cable and power...ect wireless router too and I have internet. I never called to set up anything internet wise, and am not being charged for it.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it bad to continue to use it as is?

Any feedback is appreciated.
Thank you!

Many times if you are using a cable modem and that modem is active you can take it other places and it still works. I know for example you can take it to your neighbors house. I suspect there are limitations but only the cable company would know that.

If the bill is paid I do not think the ISP can really tell where the modem physically is they just assume it is as the address that is listed in their contract.

They may leave modem active for a short time after you cancel but if it stays active for a while they will be hunting you down for the money especially when they can tell you are using it.
If You are somehow being connected via one of your neighbors unprotected wifi networks, I strongly suggest for Your own safety to get your own internet connection from an ISP (Internet Service Provider) and make sure to use WPA 2 http://www.labnol.org/internet/secure-your-wireless-wifi-network/10549/

+1. This is the likely answer, right here. I would not assume that this "gift" will last for very long.
