Hello!

So I pre-ordered the ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 ROG Strix 1759/1898 MHz from NCIX for 950$ (they lowered the price to compete with Canada Computers), but I noticed there was also a 1607/1733 MHz (Also ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 ROG Strix) for 930$. They both look the same and they are basically both the same product just different frequencies right? Can't I just buy the cheaper one and then OC to the more expensive frequency and it will be fine? Someone please explain to me why ASUS did this please, thank you.

The one with the higher clock speed is most likely more cherry picked to have that higher factory overclock. The one with the higher frequency will perform slightly better and you can overclock it more to maybe about 1.85-1.9ghz

Graphics card vendors are wise to overclocking.
They bin their chips and use the better ones in their overclocked products that sell for a premium.

You will probably get your money's worth with either.

But do not count on an overclock with the cheaper card; all the really good chips are gone.
You might get lucky, but do not count on it.

if you are comfortable with oc'ing the card, that's what i'd do. save the money paying for out of the box oc. pictures look like same cooler as well, so i see no difference other than clock speed. you won't need 3 different profiles since you'd set it at highest oc and leave it anyway :)
