Hi there,

I'd like to upgrade my PC's GPU. I know that I must change some stuff that wont be compatible anymore.

In my case I'd like to get:

GTX1070
GTX1080
GTX 980 Ti
GTX 970 SLI

All this depending on what pieces should I change or what pieces are compatible.

I own the following specs:

MOTHER BOARD: ASUS P8Z77-V LX2 ver. X.0x

PSU: RS-750-ACAA-B1
Cooler master gxII 750w 80plus bronze

RAM: 4gb Ddr3 1600 Mhz Kingston (x3)

CPU: Core i7 2600 @3.8 Ghz.

GPU: GTX 770 4GB Windforce OC

OS: Windows 8.1 64 bits.

I'll apreciate your recomendations.

Thank you so much!

Well whoever told you that you have to upgrade CPU and mobo is either a dumbass (excuse the expression) or just trying to sell you stuff. Any modern graphics card uses the PCIe interface (specifically a PCIe x16 connector) so almost any motherboard with one of those is compatible with any modern graphics card. With a 2nd gen i7 you shouldn't encounter any sort of bottleneck either.

Oh really? Because I was in a PC store yesterday and they said that I must upgrade my motherboard and my CPU :(

If you are playing at 1080P you may want to wait for the reviews of the AMD RX 480 on next week on the 29th. Its only $229 and most likely will max out everything at 1080P. GTX 1080 is overkill for 1080P, so the 1070 or RX 480 would be better options

That's a good point too, but do you think that a Crossfire of RX 480 (x2) could run fine with my PSU?

Yes @ 750W that should be easy to run crossfire RX 480. This card has max tdp of 150 W but is likely to draw no more than 120W each during gaming. Your power supply will likely never even reach 50% load with crossfire 480.

The reason to go for CF or SLI is that I want to ensure that future releases run without fps drops and ultra quality.

Multi cards configurarions aren't reliable at all? Uhm.. I don't like that..

I'm living in Peru right now, the GTX 1070 is around 950$ and the 1080 is like 1200$..
I think that I'm going for AMD this time.

If the 1070 is 950$ you may be looking at 400$ minimum for a single Rx 480. Multi-card configurations aren't reliable because the performance gains vary heavily between games that actually support multi-card at all, and the majority don't support it at all (most triple-A games do though). AMD will be releasing their Vega cards (high-end) some time in October-November, so if you really want to know all your options, you may want to wait for those cards.

If you say that multiple GPU configurations are not reliable at all, then I think I should go for a 1070. I also haven't played with AMD before lol, so I trust in NVIDIA's quality. Thanks for your reply!

Mr Kagouris is correct, multi gpu setup is a pain.
However if you are only gaming on 1080p right now one RX480 will be more than enough, and to spend extra money now to "future proof" you several years down the road is not the best way to do that. You should buy what you need now for the next 1 year, and then when you upgrade to 1440P or higher monitor sell your 480 and use proceeds to buy what you need then (1080/Vega).
