I asked this in the cooler master forums and I have yet to get a reply so I'm asking here. I know the community will answer faster. so here it is.

ok, I have a HAF XB EVO case, I got the cooler master MegaFlow fan on top. I'm thinking of switching up my CPU cooling solution *currently running a corsair H70 on an OC'ed Phenom ii x6 1100T that thermal throttles at 141F (60.5C?) when running prime 95 after 10 minutes or so* I plan on getting the Cooler Master Hyper 212 evo. I just want to know if I have enough clearance with the MegaFlow to have both or do I need to remove the MegaFlow or go with another Cooler Master product that will help keep my CPU as cool or preferably cooler.

more tech specs:
Processor: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T stock 3.3GHz/Turbo 3.7. OC'ed to 3.9GHz (just can't hit 4.0)
Liquid cooler: Corsair H70 closed loop.
Fans: stock front 2x120mm fans on the front intake. 1x120mm exhaust on the Liquid cooler radiator in pull config. 200mm megaflow as exhaust.
Temperatures: Stock idle around ambient room temps 70-74F (~21-23C). OC'ed Idle around 86F (30C give or take 2 degrees)
MoBo: Asus 970 Aura pro gaming
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 4x4GB

What I'm looking for is if I have the clearance to have both the megaflow fan AND the Hyper 212evo CPU cooler, or do I need to take the fan out, or look for another cooling solution.

First, you should change the fan on your liquid cooler to intake, pushing fresh, cooler air through your radiator. Try that first before going to an air cooler that won't do much better at cooling. Fresh, cool air is very important for liquid coolers. Next, if you can, increase the pump speed to maximum.

I tried swapping the fans, it did bring the Core temps down by about 5-7C running Prime95, but I failed to realize something, the socket temp is getting up there. it throttles at 75C. so it may not matter what I do, it'll still throttle when it gets that hot, not that anything I do would normally would produce that much strain on the CPU to cause the socket to rise that high.

but back to the question at hand, Would I be able to fit a Hyper 212 air cooler in my case with the MasterFlow fan or not?

To cool the socket and vrm temps , mount a fan over the pump blowing down onto the board.
I have the EVO with one fan pulled all of the way up and the other all of the way down to cool the socket and VRM. X6 @ 3.6 pulling 160-177 watts
You need air flow around the socket and VRM to cool it down.

with those numbers and I managed to find a width on the fan finally, the fan closes the gap by 30mm so it's +8mm to big. So I guess I"ll have to find another cooler that is under 150mm tall.

and as for the getting air to blow over the VRMs I dont' think it mattered. I had the 200mm fan pointed into the case (currently as an exhaust now) I have to 2x120mm front fans as intake, and the radiator fan pointing both exhaust and intake for pull then push config respectively. only thing I haven't changed is the front intake fans.
