best liquid cooling kit for two 1080 founders edition?

Solution
What about it ? Are you considering a Founder's Edition Card ? I wouldn't bother water cooling one.

Here's your choice

$810 for MSI 1080 Seahawk EK X w/ preinstalled EK water bock and backplate w/ warranty and no labor ?

or $888 for parts you assemble yourself and no warranty

MSI 1080 Gaming for $710
EK-FC1080 GTX TF6 – Nickel [3831109831564] Water Block for about $135
EK-FC1080 GTX TF6 Backplate – Nickel [3831109831595] for about $30
TIM Gelid Extreme - $13

I don't see that there's anything to think about here
1. Couldn't begin to answer without knowing what case ?

2. If you want an all-in-one, you could start with something like a Swiftech H240-X in the front for CPU cooling and then add a 420 radiator and two water blocks when ya ready,

3. I wouldn't bother putting a water block on a Founders Edition card, other than noise reduction, you will see little advantage due tot he limitations of the reference PCB.

4. I also wouldn't bother installing twin 1080s. Don't see a usage that would not be better served (fps / dollar) by twin 970s or twin 1080 Tis ... As with the 980, I expect that once the 1080 Ti drops, the 1080 will become the forgotten red headed step child.

4k gaming aka two 1080's. case is thermaltake core x9

1. Buying a 4k monitor today is an invitation to a sever case of Buyer's Remorse. The 10xx series brought is Display Port 1.4 which allows the use of high speed monitors at 4k. None exist on the market at present. The big thing holding back 4K is that 60 Hz panels are all we have to choose from.... not only have there been no monitors, but no cables with the necessary bandwidth to carry a 120/144 hz signal at 4k. Once they drop, every 4k monitor on a desk right now will be immediately rendered "old tech".

2. By the time monitors arrive that support ULMB and high refresh rates, the 1080 Ti will be on its way.

3. The case should have no problem adding a 420mm or even two of them ... but it is really weird to see a case with that much radiator support mentioned in the same sentence with the word "kit".

Cpu already has a 240x i just want a kit for two 1080's in sli

4. Gave ya that in previous post ... I mean you are talking about real water cooling not any of that cheap CLC foolishness. Unlike CLCs with aluminum rads and weak pumps, the Swiftech is expandable. has a real (copper) radiator and a real (1.0+ gpm) pump. GFX card CLCs cool only the GPU, not the VRMs, memory or anything else. Every FE card out there is thermal throttling , remoive the GPOU temp limitation and right in the same neighborhood you have the VRM temps jumping in to curtail your OC. And with the stick FE VRM, your OC is going to be gimped anyway.

5. The Seahawk cards linked will provide fill cover blocks resulting in all the components being water cooled. All you have to buy, which you will need to do anyway, is sect the tubing, coolant and fittings ya want.

17ms is "advertised" or 'tested". The video gives a horrendous example of false advertised times not getting anywhere near manufacturer claims. The latter is oft as much as twice the former, sometimes more. But still... gaming w/o G-Sync or ULMB is giving up a lot.

The other thing is only the "bleeding edge" cards are currently available.... last generation we saw ...

-the EVGA heat pipes missed cooler oops

-the MSI adhesive on tape securing fans was too strong causing some fans to be damaged on removal of tape.

-High RMA rate on early G1 cards

-and so on

Come late July, these types of issues will have washed out, cards prices will drop, the better quality cards will be here and there will be enough data out the telling us which ones are the best of the bunch

ULMB? im gonna giv the gpu's a 6 month performance test with some stress testing in there. to ensure no issue or artifacting before i switch to liquid cooling. aslo i ont plan to oc till after luiquid cooling. so i have no complaints. by the way i cant buya gpu block that cools vrm ram and gpu proccessor?

I'm sure you heard complaints about why G-Sync monitors cost so much .. "after all Freesync is the same thing and it's free". No, its not the same thing.

G-sync comes with a hardware module which is installed inside the monitor which provides Motion Blur Reduction Technology (Ultra Low Motion Blur). This module costs money and works very well to eliminate ghosting.

watch the video here:

http://www.blurbusters.com/zero-motion-blur/video/

Notice how when the counter moved to 09, you can still see the ghost of 08 on the screen. When you strobe the backlight, this ghosting is eliminated. ULMB is a hardware module that strobes the backlight to essentially shut the light off between game frames. Freesync has no comparable technology tho some manufacturers of Freesync monitors have been adding the feature themselves and the quality and cost of these add-ons varies.

And yes, I don't know why this is not "getting across"

1. CLCs "kits" cool GPU only, they do not cool VRM, memory or anything else. There is a Seahawk version with a CLC. NOT RECOMMEDNED

2. The full cover water block provided by EK for the MSI Seahawk is a full cover block meaning it covers the "full card" ... covers the GPU, covers the memory, covers the VRM. RECOMMENDED .. This is no different from buying the EK Water Block / Backplate and installing it yourself tho this option cost more, you have to do it, is not warranteed and had a lesser PCB.
